What cabinet do I need for an integrated dishwasher?

What cabinet do I need for an integrated dishwasher?

You do not need a cabinet for an integrated dishwasher. All you need is a matching door.

This door should match the rest of your kitchen doors. This is fixed to the front of your dishwasher. There are two standard sized doors available for your integrated dishwasher. For a slimline dishwasher you will need a 446mm wide door. For a standard integrated dishwasher you will need a 596mm kitchen door.

When you buy your integrated dishwasher it will come with the relevant components needed to fix the door to the dishwasher. There are usually two type of door fittings. Either the door will bit securely on to the front of the dishwasher, or it will have a sliding component that means the door will open without catching on either the worktop or plinth. These are the most popular types of fittings on modern integrated dishwashers.

Do I Need a Special Door to Close Off an Integrated Dishwasher?

Do I need anything else for an integrated dishwasher?

You will need a plinth you run along the bottom of the unit. This would normally run the full width of your kitchen. If your dishwasher is a stand alone, you would normally also match the end panels, so that it looks smarter. This means putting end panels either side of the dishwasher. If the dishwasher is part of a run of units, ie. with kitchen units either side, you would not need end panels.

Do I Need a Special Door to Close Off an Integrated Dishwasher?

No, you will just need a standard door. We call these integrated dishwasher doors, but in fact they are just undrilled standard doors. Don't worry, you don't pay extra for the name! We just use it to avoid confusion. The integrated dishwasher will come with fittings for either fitting the door directly on to the front, or using additional fixing. They will also come with instructions on how to do it.

If you are fitting a door to a previously fitted integrated dishwasher, simple remove the old door and mark out the fittings on the back to match the fittings on the old door.
